The Huawei Watch Fit 4 Pro is an enhanced version of the Watch Fit 4, promising to provide an upgraded wristwatch design and plenty of added smarts to make it a better value than its predecessor, the Watch Fit 3.
There are significant benefits for both outdoor enthusiasts and those who wish to closely track their health, as Huawei’s HarmonyOS brings everything together to give you the sense of using one of Huawei’s more expensive smartwatches.
We were great fans of the Watch Fit 3, and with a little more money to spend on the pro version of the Fit 4, it appears that the extra cost, at £249, will be worthwhile for some.
Design & Build
- Two case size options
- Available in steel or titanium
- New side-mounted sensor
The Watch Fit 4 Pro is available in green, blue, and black, giving it fewer color options than the Watch Fit 3.
You can now choose between fluoroelastomer or woven nylon bands, as well as titanium and aluminum in the case. When those components are combined, we get a smartwatch design that checks a lot of boxes while still providing us with something we’ve seen before.
From the casing form to the spinning crown and button on the side, the Fit 4 Pro resembles an Apple Watch Ultra 2 clone. A decent clone, to be sure, but it doesn’t strive too hard to stand out here.
If you can cope with folks wondering if you’re wearing an Apple Watch Ultra (which you might desire), you’ll receive a very well-made wristwatch that’s now slimmer than the Fit 3 and Fit 4, and at just over 30g, it’s also rather light on your wrist.
Another feature it has with Apple’s smartwatch is its suitability for recreational diving up to 40 metres deep. That, combined with a 5ATM certification, means you may wear it in the shower and while swimming.
Screen & Audio
- New sapphire glass
- Improved screen brightness
- Speaker and microphone included
The display on the Watch Fit 4 Pro is the same size and resolution as the one found on the Fit 3, as well as the cheaper Fit 4. The addition of sapphire glass provides the same scratch-resistant protection as more expensive watches and smartwatches.
The 1.82-inch, 480 x 408 resolution display is considerably brighter as Huawei increases the maximum brightness. It’s up to 3,000 on the Pro, which is double what we received on the Watch Fit 3 and 1,000 more nits than the non-Pro Fit 4.
The lack of cellular connectivity remains unchanged. If you want it on a Huawei smartwatch, you’ll have to get the Huawei Watch 5. You may still utilize the integrated speaker and microphone to take calls via Bluetooth, and the speaker volume and mic quality are sufficient to intercept a call from your wrist.
Software & Features
- Some micro apps available
- Petal Maps mapping
- Custom watch faces
The Watch Fit series has matured into a smartwatch rather than a fitness tracker and smartwatch hybrid, but there will be no big updates to move it closer to fully-featured Huawei smartwatches such as the Watch GT and Watch series.
As previously said, you can use it to make Bluetooth calls, see notifications, add transport cards, and access music settings and player modes. The latter is once again off-limits for iPhone users. You get access to Huawei’s Petal Maps, and the screen is large and bright enough to make navigation worthwhile.
With the added option to add stickers and emojis to watch faces, you can observe which of those faces consumes the most battery life. It’s great to see the Fit 4 Pro displaying a more fun side.
There will, unavoidably, be some features missing from the Watch Fit 4 Pro that are available on more pricier Huawei smartwatches. The most significant disadvantage is that you have less access to Huawei AppGallery apps. It’s a more intimate affair, with only a few available.
Fitness & Tracking
- Added ECG app
- Offline maps and point-to-point navigation
- Altitude barometer now included
When it comes to running or trekking, Huawei has made some significant improvements over the Fit 3. To improve outside tracking, the system has been upgraded from a single-band to a dual-band GNSS.
The improved route tracking now extends to water activities, and the new barometer makes it more useful when confronting high heights. You now have access to free offline maps for hobbies like trail running, as well as some of Huawei’s more advanced golf smarts, such as over 15,000 course maps.
The sports tracking experience is impressive for a watch at this price point, and in many ways outperforms many more costly smartwatches. In our tests, the GPS performance has been consistently reliable.
Even for indoor exercises, it functioned well. Offline mapping and turn-by-turn navigation are wonderful features that are well-presented on the Fit 4 Pro’s display. Huawei’s newest TruSense optical sensor has fared well in tracking heart rate during workouts, however it can be a touch dodgy during higher-intensity exercises.
The surprising large advancements don’t stop there; Huawei also manages to pack in an ECG sensor, making the Fit 4 Pro one of the most affordable ways to watch your heart rate more reliably by laying your finger on the electrode for a 30-second measurement, comparable to the Huawei Watch 5.
The data were consistent with similar ECG readings from an Apple Watch Series 10, and they are now recorded in the Huawei Health app’s heart area alongside daily heart rate readings and new arterial stiffness detection metrics.
Battery Life & Charging
- 7-10 day battery life
- 4 days with always-on display
- Fast charging available
The Watch Fit 4 Pro attempts to provide more than a week of battery life between charges, and it really offers the same 7 days as the Watch Fit 4 and the previous Watch Fit 3 in what Huawei considers usual usage.
When you use Huawei’s battery saver mode, the battery life increases to 10 days, but it reduces to 4 days if you keep the screen on constantly.
If you want a smartwatch that will last a week and don’t mind having the screen on all the time, you have a good chance of acquiring one. Even when using functions such as fitness tracking, sleep monitoring, and notification viewing, the daily power drain is minimal.
I jogged with the Fit 4 Pro for an hour, and the battery dropped by 5%. Overnight, the battery dropped approximately 6-7%. It may not be a significant increase in absolute battery capacity over the Fit 3, but it certainly hasn’t gotten worse.
When you run out of battery, take the circular proprietary charging cable, and even a 10-minute charge period will provide you with enough for a day’s play if you don’t use it too much.
If you charge from 0%, it takes an hour to reach full capacity, so restarting it is quick and easy.
Price & Availability
The Huawei Watch Fit 4 Pro is currently available in the United Kingdom and Europe, with no indication of a US release. If things go as expected with the Huawei Watch Fit 3 unveiling, its odds of going on sale are minimal.
The launch price is £249, so that’s over £100 more expensive than the Watch Fit 3 – which didn’t have Pro model. If you need something cheaper, then the regular Watch Fit 4 is £149.
