Even while we wait for the iPhone 16 to arrive later this year, rumors about next year’s model circulate at regular intervals. According to the most recent rumour, all four iPhone 17 series will include an enhanced 24MP front camera, according to Apple analyst Jeff Pu’s research paper for investment bank Haitong.
iPhone 17 series might get a front camera upgrade
- According to the latest research report obtained by MacRumors, the four iPhone 17 versions would be marketed as iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Slim, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max.
- All of these versions will include a 24MP front camera with six plastic lens components. In comparison, the iPhone 15 models have a 12MP camera on the front with a 5P lens.
- In January, Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predicted that some iPhone 17 models would feature a 24MP front camera with a six-piece lens.
- Since this has been rumored several times, the leak should be credible. Kuo said that the hardware update will “significantly improve image quality.”
Aside from the 24MP camera improvement, the addition of a six-piece lens will greatly increase image quality. Each element is said to be intended to compensate for various aberrations and distortions.
Other iPhone 17 series reports indicate that Apple has apparently postponed its intentions to incorporate resin-coated copper (RCC) components in future iPhones. This would have allowed the corporation to reduce interior space needs, shrink down the design, and perhaps offer larger batteries. Apple is reportedly citing durability and fragility concerns as the reason for the delay.
The iPhone 17 series will apparently continue to use TSMC’s 3nm manufacturing node rather than the more powerful 2nm process node, as was widely assumed. The 2nm chipset may not be available for mass manufacturing until the end of 2025. This suggests that the iPhone 18 series, released in 2026, could be the first to employ the 2nm process node.
