Three years after launching its first smartwatch, OnePlus is releasing the second model. And this time, the tech company promises to “do it right”.
The OnePlus Watch 2 will debut at the MWC exhibition in Barcelona on February 26, 2024, so you won’t have long to wait. We don’t yet know the specifics of pre-ordering/buying the watch; they’ll most likely be revealed after the launch.
The headline image showcases the two colors that the OnePlus Watch 2 will be available in: black steel and radiant steel. The names are inspired by the wearable’s steel chassis, which is combined with a circular sapphire crystal watch face.
These colors correspond to the options available for the flagship OnePlus 12 smartphone; for example, compare the Radiant Steel watch to the Flowy Emerald edition of the phone:
Aside from hardware, the OnePlus Watch 2 is said to have an astounding 100-hour battery life in ‘Smart Mode’ – we think there will be several settings depending on whether you want to operate the watch at peak performance or conserve energy.
Kinder Liu, COO and President of OnePlus, stated on the OnePlus Watch 2: “After a three-year break and a thoughtful pause following the OnePlus Watch 1, the Watch 2 has re-emerged, and we are more confident than ever about this device.
“This optimism is not unjustified; it is based on significant developments in our technology environment and capabilities. Watch 2 demonstrates our desire to transition from ‘flagship killer’ to ‘ecosystem builder’.”
The biggest issue with the first OnePlus Watch was its flaky, incomplete software. OnePlus has indicated that it has learned from its errors, which might hint to a wristwatch running Google’s wearable operating system. Max Jambor, a leaker, has claimed that the Watch 2 would run Wear OS 4.
#OnePlusWatch2 Design has been revealed in some gorgeous looking renders by @OnLeaks – I’ve seen quite a few comments asking about the OS it runs though.
Let me reveal to you: The all new OnePlus Watch2 will run WearOS 4 ✅

If accurate, it would be a formidable challenger to the Pixel Watch 2 and Galaxy Watch 6. Hang on tight, because we’ll find out in just a few days whether that’s the case when the OnePlus Watch 2 makes its formal premiere in sunny Spain.
