New rumors about the Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 smartwatch appear to suggest that Samsung is expanding its wearable offerings.
We’re probably still a few months away from an official Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 announcement, possibly alongside the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 and the Galaxy Z Fold 7.
However, the most recent leak regarding Samsung’s upcoming wearable is the closest thing to a definite confirmation yet, and it verifies certain key aspects of the range.
Two Galaxy Watch 8 variants spotted
According to Xpertpick, batteries that appear to be intended for the Galaxy Watch 8 series have appeared in certification at SafetyKorea, Samsung’s domestic safety and compliance organization.
There are two batteries (EB-BL330ABY and EB-BL505ABY) for two separate wearable devices. These are likely to be the Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 and Galaxy Watch 8 Classic.
Samsung did not supply a Samsung Galaxy Watch 7 Classic, therefore this is good news.
A screenshot of one of these batteries shows that the EB-BL330ABY has a usual capacity of 435 mAh. This would be significantly larger than the 425 mAh battery included in the Samsung Galaxy Watch 7.
Galaxy Watch 8 firmware out in the wild
That’s not the only Galaxy Watch 8 leak circulating right now. Theordysm, a Twitter (previously X) tipster, recently revealed facts about the firmware that would run on Samsung’s upcoming wearables upgrade.
There were six varieties described here, which appear to fall into two categories.
The SM-L320, SM-L325U, SM-L330, and SM-L335U appear to reflect the Galaxy Watch 8’s two sizes and Wi-Fi/cellular variants, while the SM-L500 and SM-L505 could refer to the Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 Classic, if earlier appearances in the GSMA database are any indication.
We loved the Galaxy Watch 7, but we’d like to see the Classic return, along with a little thinner design. It would be fantastic if all of those advanced health features worked just as well without a Samsung phone.
