When does my phone get Android 16?

Google has officially unveiled Android 16, and major changes are on their way.

Android 16 will transform your phone in a variety of ways, including a new ‘Material 3 Expressive’ design, updated apps, and additional customization choices. However, with its new appearance and feel, Android 16 has fully embraced Gen Z.

Nonetheless, you’ll most likely want to try it for yourself. Early beta versions can be found on recent Pixel phones and other chosen devices. But you’re presumably more concerned about the final, public version, which should have fixed the majority of the bugs and other concerns.

Based on software update promises, we have a fair notion of which Android devices will receive the Android 16 upgrade. But when will that happen? The timing is determined by a variety of factors, including the brand and age of the device.

Here’s an outline of what to expect from well-known companies in the UK and US markets, based on the excellent Android 16 Update Tracker, which tracks many of the most popular devices. TCL, Asus, Nubia, HMD, Huawei, and Realme are among the firms excluded from this list.

However, the distribution of One UI 7 did not begin until April 2025 and is still happening as of this writing, so you may have to wait a bit.
