Ahsoka: Everything we know about the Disney+ series

The Star Wars collection on Disney+ will increase over the next several years, due to a slew of live-action productions. One of the most anticipated is a series based on the character Ahsoka Tano, widely known from the animated program The Clone Wars.

The Mandalorian Chapter 13, The Jedi, introduced Ahsoka into the live-action universe. Continue reading if you want to learn more about this series.

What is the release date for Ahsoka?

Ahsoka episodes are now available on Disney+. The program will include eight episodes, which will be released weekly. More information may be found in the episode release guide.

Is there a trailer for Ahsoka?

There are, indeed, two official trailers. The most recent provides us our first complete glimpse at the show’s villain, Grand Admiral Thrawn:

Take a look at the official teaser trailer below:

Who are the cast and crew?

Rosario Dawson will reprise her role as The Mandalorian’s Ahsoka Tano. Originally voiced by Ashley Eckstein in Clone Wars and Rebels, Dawson has garnered positive feedback so far.

Hayden Christensen, who will reprise his role as Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader, will join her (via The Hollywood Reporter). Tano was Skywalker’s padawan in The Clone Wars, hence the two characters had a connection.

Ahsoka

The Mandalorian and Ahsoka are both set to be released five years after Return of the Jedi. As a result, we anticipate Anakin to resurface in flashbacks or as a force ghost.

Christensen also had a significant role in the Obi-Wan series, which takes place much earlier than Ahsoka.

Eman Esfandi will play Ezra Bridger, a character whose fate was unclear following the fourth season of Rebels.

Sabine Wren, a teenage Mandalorian who walked out of the Imperial Academy, is played by Natasha Liu Bordizzo (well known for The Society).

Kate, the star of Birds of Prey and the Netflix thriller, will also appear in the series as Hera Syndullla, while Ivanna Sakhno will play Shin Hati.

According to Making Star Wars, LucasFilm has been looking for women to play Ahsoka at a younger age, maybe in her teens, with some flashbacks occurring around the period of The Clone Wars.

Both Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni of The Mandalorian will serve as executive producers, with Filoni also serving as a writer for the program. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Peter Ramsey, best known for his work on Into the Spider-Verse, will direct at least one episode of Ahsoka.

What is the plot of Ahsoka?

The series will take place in the same universe as The Mandalorian.

In her cameo in The Mandalorian, Ahsoka mentions looking for Grand Admiral Thrawn (AKA Mitth’raw’nuruodo), a villain best known from Rebels who vanished along with Jedi-in-training Ezra Bridger.

According to the trailers, Thrawn will be the major adversary of the series, and Ezra will also play an important role in the plot.

This is backed up by Rosario Dawson, who stated at C2E2 that they are attempting to locate Thrawn.

Ahsoka

We also expect to learn more about Ahsoka’s time as a young student to former Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker, and her eventual confrontation with him as Darth Vader.

Rangers of the upcoming Republic, another upcoming Star Wars program, will purportedly include Ahsoka. We also suspect that we haven’t seen the last of her and that her tale will intersect with Mando’s.

The teaser also revealed that Ahsoka and Sabine Wren would have a complicated master-padawan relationship.

Dave Filoni, the showrunner, purportedly saw a preliminary edit of an episode and had an emotional reaction to it:

How to watch Ahsoka

Ahsoka, like all other Star Wars originals, is a Disney+ exclusive. For new members on the ad-free plan, accounts now cost £7.99/$10.99 per month or £79.90/$109.99 per year.
