While Garmin and Polar have dominated the sales of ultra-sporty linked watches for years, other manufacturers are now attempting to outperform them. This is obviously true for Apple with its Apple Watch Ultra, but it is also true for more specialist businesses like Suunto and Coros.

This Thursday, the company also launched two new linked watches aimed at athletes, the Coros 2 and Coros 2 Pro. Two watches square off against the Garmin Forerunner 955.

Unsurprisingly, and as their names imply, these two watches succeed the first Coros Apex, which was introduced by the maker at the end of 2018. If the Pace models are mostly meant for runners, and the Vertix watches are primarily intended for extreme sportsmen, the Coros watches are primarily intended as multisport watches.

In particular, we are entitled to two watches that have an LCD screen with Always-On compatibility and a touch screen. They also have sapphire crystal to protect the screen slab, a titanium casing, and a silicone and nylon strap with a width of 20 or 22 mm depending on the model and a pin. rapid release

Even though the two watches have touch screens, they also include buttons for better navigation while exercise, with three buttons on the right, including a spinning crown, a back button, and a dedicated backlight button.

WATCHES WITH EXTENSIVE SPORTS FUNCTIONS :

The Coros Apex 2 and Coros Apex 2 Pro, like other sports watches, have not only a heart rate monitor, but also a temperature, a pulse oximeter (to measure SpO2), a barometric altimeter, and even an electrocardiogram function. Both watches include extensive navigation features and are compatible with various multi-GNSS services (GPS, Glonass, Galileo, Beidou, QZSS). However, only the ” Pro ” version is dual band L1+L5 compatible, whereas the Apex 2 is confined to the L1 frequency range.

Aside from the geographical difference, the two watches are also characterized by their format. Thus, the Coros 2 has a size of 43 x 42.8 x 12.8 mm, a screen weight of 1.2 inches in diameter (240 x 240 pixels), and a battery that can run for 17 days in normal use. The Coros Apex 2 Pro, for its part, has dimensions of 46.1 x 46.5 x 14 mm, a screen diameter of 1.3 inches (260 x 260 pixels), and a battery life of 30 days.

The Coros Apex 2 is already available in black or dark gray for 479 euros. The Apex 2 Pro, for its part, is available in black or gray for 579 euros.
