We’re less than a month away from the expected iPhone 16 release date, and we have our first big clue as to how much the new Apple handsets will supposedly cost.
On X, Apple Hub, a regular Apple leaker, published a number of technical specifications for the full iPhone 16 series, including beginning prices for each model.
Amazingly, Apple looks to be keeping iPhone 16 prices consistent with those of the iPhone 15 series – at least for the bulk of phones. And, as Apple’s smartphone rivals hike prices this summer, our wallets can breathe a little easier. This cost announcement alone may propel the iPhone 16 models to the top of our best iPhones list.
The only update we observe in the Apple Hub leak is the iPhone 16 Pro. It will reportedly start at $1,099, a $100 premium above the iPhone 15 Pro. However, Apple appears to have some modifications planned for its upcoming phone. In addition to a larger screen and a new telephoto lens, the iPhone 16 Pro will reportedly come with 256GB of storage. Apple took the similar decision last year, boosting the price of the iPhone 15 Pro Max.

The leak looks to validate a lot of previously reported information, including the debut of the Pro and Pro Max tiers’ largest screens to date, at 6.3-inch and 6.9-inch, respectively.
Apple Intelligence support for all handsets is not surprising. Apple has previously stated that you would need an iPhone running an A17 or later, and all new phones are expected to have an A18 system-on-chip. In the case of the Pro models, it appears that Apple is developing a pro edition of the A18.
The speculated specifications certainly include some possible disappointments. If you’re still hoping for an iPhone 16 Ultra, Apple Hub’s leak makes no mention of the elusive handset. Perhaps an Ultra version of the iPhone will debut next year alongside the much rumored iPhone 17 Slim.
Battery life may also be an issue with the Pro iPhone, as it will feature a lower capacity battery than the Plus and Pro Max models. However, even with the larger screen, the small 16 Pro has limited space.
It was speculated that the entire iPhone lineup will include Wi-Fi 7, but if this spec chart is correct, just the Pro models would have that capability. The Pro cameras should be slightly better, with a 48MP ultrawide and 5x optical zoom for both the Pro and Pro Max.
We’ll know more for sure when Apple unveils its flagship phone lineup at their September presentation. Stay tuned to Tom’s Guide, where we will have all the latest updates as they come in.
