We just witnessed a significant leak that revealed what could be a major design update for the iPhone 17 Pro Max. According to the report, the phone would feature a horizontal camera bar similar to the Google Pixel, which would be a significant departure from the present iPhone 16 Pro Max design.
Wylsacom, a Russian YouTube channel, has taken those speculations and run with them, making mockups of what an iPhone 17 Pro Max could look like with the suspected design. If this is the final appearance and feel of the gadget, I’m on board because I’ve always liked the Google Pixel’s horizontal camera bar.
The last substantial camera design change was in 2019 with the iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max, thus it makes sense for Apple to somewhat modify the design language. Even if the existing design works well enough, the Cupertino business will not want to remain stuck with the same appearance and feel for very long.
The camera bar rumor is rather reliable, thus it appears that these renders are based on fact. Of course, we must accept these photographs as rumors until Apple confirms the design at the formal iPhone 17 event (which is expected to take place in September 2025).
Aside from this design modification, other reports about the iPhone 17 Pro Max’s materials have surfaced. Some leakers suggest it will move to aluminum, while others say it will remain titanium. We’ve also heard that the phone would feature a 6.9-inch OLED display with a refresh rate of 1-120Hz.
Another big iPhone 17 Pro Max rumor indicates that it (and the iPhone 17 Pro) will have 12GB of RAM, up from 8GB. Apple is also believed to be developing a new iPhone 17 Air, which will be the thinnest iPhone ever.
Again, these are just rumors and speculation; nothing is official until Apple introduces the new phones. Stay tuned to our iPhone 17 hub for the most recent updates.
