OnePlus 13T confirmed for launch — here’s the first official look

Over the last few weeks, we’ve heard a variety of speculations about the OnePlus 13T, but there has been no clear indication of when the phone would be released. We now have confirmation from OnePlus that the launch will take place on April 24.

It is worth mentioning that for the time being, this will most likely be a China-only launch. The teaser video was shared on Weibo and only contains Chinese language. The event begins at 2.30 p.m. China Standard Time, which corresponds to 2.30 a.m. EST. Needless to say, many people are unlikely to watch the event live.

A global launch is expected in the near future, however the exact date is unknown at this time.

OnePlus 13T: What the announcement reveals

The teaser leaves little to the imagination. While OnePlus hasn’t released a full spec sheet, we can see some significant design changes compared to the OnePlus 13 and 13R.

The most notable change is the removal of the alert slider, which has been replaced by a new “shortcut key” akin to the Action Button on the iPhone 16. The goal is that this button will be able to switch between multiple sound profiles while also allowing users to personalize the button’s functionality.

The camera bump is also noticeably different, with a square camera shape identical to that of the Pixel 9 Pro Fold. Quite different from the circular shape of the OnePlus 13. There are just two camera lenses and a smaller third sensor that has yet to be identified. Colors appear to be black, silver, and pink.

OnePlus 13T: Everything else we know

OnePlus is normally fairly fond of hyping future phones ahead of their formal release, but this hasn’t been the case with the OnePlus 13T thus far. Aside from verifying that the phone would remove the alert slider, we’ve had to rely on rumors and speculation about what the phone would have to offer.

The first is a reduced screen size, with speculations indicating a 6.3-inch display. While not significantly smaller than the 6.82-inch OnePlus 13, it is nonetheless small enough that the rumor mill initially labeled this phone the “OnePlus 13 mini.”

It is also expected that the phone would have a larger 6,200 mAh battery. Combine that with OnePlus’ recent battery life improvements and the smaller screen, and the phone should last a long time. But if it can beat the OnePlus 13’s 19 hours and 45 minutes is another story.

While there will always be variances between the Chinese and global models, we should learn practically everything about the OnePlus 13T on April 24.
