Getting started with the Oppo Find N2: the little one in the big leagues

The Oppo Find N2 has been officially launched in China, and we have it in our hands. A very appealing foldable smartphone with a tiny folding structure and a very good hinge, yet it still disappoints by omitting Europe.

The Oppo Find N2 has been announced and replaces the original Oppo Find N. The Chinese company is therefore back in force after a successful maiden test in foldable cellphones. We were able to handle it in our hands, and we can say right away that this new vintage is just as thrilling as the first.

This new folding smartphone was unveiled to the public at the brand’s annual Inno Day event, alongside the Find N2 Flip, which is set to launch in France in a few months. “With only 233 grams, the black vegan leather variant is the lightest wallet-sized folding smartphone on the market – even lighter than some regular smartphones,” the maker claims.

FEATURES TO REMEMBER FOR THE OPPO FIND N2

Apart from the weight, the Oppo Find N2 is distinguished by its proportions. This foldable smartphone, like the Find N before it, has a very tiny size when folded, but it is 14.6 mm thick. This gives it a distinct personality that distinguishes it from the competitors while also providing a decent compromise between the usage of a tiny smartphone and the comfort of a tablet.

We therefore have two 120 Hz displays on the program, with the external panel having a diagonal of 5.4 inches (brightness announced at 1350 cd / m2) and 7.1 inches for the one that folds and unfolds at the inside (1500 cd/m2). Also, keep in mind that we’re working with a nearly precisely square format for the large screen (ratio 9:8.4). We shall return to it.

The beast is powered by a strong Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor, and the camera bearing the Hasselblad name includes a primary sensor of 50 megapixels, an ultra wide-angle sensor of 48 megapixels, and a 32 megapixel telephoto lens. The home chip MariSilicon X reinforces all of this photo component.

Finally, don’t forget about the 4520 mAh battery with 67 W quick charging. On the software front, the ColorOS 13 interface competes with Android 13. Aside from the huge screen, other features include quick screen capture by swiping your fingertips across the screen and the FlexForm mode, which allows the smartphone to be used while seated. In summary, there are several advantages.

FOLDABLE SMARTPHONE FUN

During a brief hands-on, we were able to sample these characteristics. The Oppo Find N2 has a really appealing concept. The smartphone is extremely comfortable to use in folded form due to its compactness, and equally so in unfolded form due to the complete lack of folds in the center of the huge slab: invisible to the sight, imperceptible to the finger. It’s lovely and of high quality.

It was a huge success in its first generation, and Oppo claims to have incorporated its second generation hinges on the Find N2. As a result, it retains this lovely quality while keeping the gadget lighter. The grip is quite pleasant.

The new version has 100 or more components, which is 36 less than the previous generation, and uses cutting-edge materials like high-strength alloy and carbon fiber that are employed in the aviation sector. The Find N2’s weight has also been decreased by 42 grams in comparison to the original generation due to improvements made to the internal construction and screen, all without sacrificing quality.

Additionally, the improved hinge promises to be able to bend up to 400,000 times without breaking. In other words, the Oppo Find N2’s diminutive size in no way prevents it from being one of the major players in the foldable industry.

THE GREAT FRUSTRATION

Following the enthusiastic – even dithyrambic – reviews of the Oppo Find N2, some may be wondering when this smartphone will be available in France. Unfortunately, unlike the Find N2 Flip, this foldable is not currently planned for markets outside of China.

Oppo adds that, while the square style of the huge screen allows for high productivity, it still requires improvements to provide a truly pleasant experience to European customers. An audible case for patiently dealing with our problems, but we may reply with the fact that the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 does not care about such worries. The South Korean conglomerate is doing well with the Labs functions to maintain the experience pleasant, even on non-optimized applications. Let us hope that Oppo would carefully consider this type of idea to improve its game. We have faith in it.
