10 Great Xbox Game Pass games

Xbox Game Pass may have had a sluggish 2022, but its worth has paid off in 2023. There are over 400 titles to select from, and I’ve had a difficult time narrowing it down to just ten to suggest this year. For a monthly membership charge of $10.99 to $16.99, you may play a variety of games such as Starfield, Sea of Stars, Tunic, and Inside.

If you’ve recently purchased an Xbox, here’s a list of ten terrific Xbox Game Pass titles that are well worth your time during the holidays.

Pentiment

Pentiment is a 16th-century manuscript murder mystery. In Pentiment, you take on the role of Andreas Maler, a painter who works on decorated manuscripts in a Bavarian convent. The game is structured similarly to a visual novel, with you making decisions that have a significant influence on everyone around you. You’ll have to live with the repercussions of your decisions once you’ve made them.

PowerWash Simulator

I enjoy slouching into my sofa and pressure washing my day away by removing dirt off automobiles and pavements. There’s something extremely fulfilling about blasting away grime without having to leave your living room to perform the dirty job. If you’re a neat freak like me, you’ll enjoy this one even more.

Tunic

Tunic is a Zelda-style adventure that appears to be an easy ride because to the cute little fox, yet the adversaries are as difficult as anything in a Dark Souls game. The level design is stunning, and there are lovely animations throughout. While you’re drooling over Tunic, the combat and mechanics will keep you entertained for hours. Just be sure to read the in-game tutorial to learn how to navigate the game and get the most out of Tunic.

Starfield

Starfield, Bethesda Game Studios’ latest space RPG, finally came this year, and the greatest thing is that it’s available on Xbox Game Pass. Starfield is enormous and full of adventure and discovery, similar to games like Fallout and Skyrim. But be warned: it will take you at least 10 hours to get inside Starfield, and Bethesda is still working on upgrading the game’s systems, such as city maps, official mod support, and new methods to navigate about.

Inside

Inside is a platform game that starts in a grim and gray forest, which sets the stage for an unsettling and constantly changing landscape. You control a boy trying to escape a violent world that’s full of shocking plot twists. Inside only lasts a few hours, but if you’re a fan of 2D puzzle games then this is a must-play.

Cocoon

Cocoon is a simple puzzle game in which you must deliver orbs to various gadgets. These spheres provide extraordinary abilities and contain entire universes, offering basic but complicated gameplay. It must be experienced in order to be understood, and it is well worth the five to six hours of your time.

Jusant

Jusant is a climbing game created by the same team who created the Life Is Strange series. You begin at the foot of a massive skyscraper and work your way up, avoiding obstacles. It’s full of great panoramas as you ascend, but I wish the story wasn’t delivered through massive volumes of text that makes you want to hit the skip button. Nonetheless, it’s worth it to sit through all of that nonsense for this terrific addition to the Xbox Game Pass collection.

Lies of P

In Lies of P you play as Pinocchio, a silent protagonist who leads you through a Soulslike world where you have to adapt your weapons to take on the many enemies in the city of Krat. There’s a weapon crafting system that lets you mix and match weapons to create your ideal build. Lies of P also has a lying system, which means decisions you make throughout the game can lead to three different endings. If you’re a fan of the combat in Bloodborne then Lies of P will feel familiar, and it does a good job of standing out in the Soulslike genre.

Hi-Fi Rush

Hi-Fi Rush launched as a shadow drop earlier this year, straight into Xbox Game Pass. Tango Gameworks, the developers behind The Evil Within series and Ghostwire: Tokyo, have created a slick and stylish rhythm-action brawler. You’re rewarded for landing hits in time with the game’s music, which really makes it feel like you’re playing music live. The game is also full of pop culture references, all set to a colorful visual style with animated 2D scenes.

Sea of Stars

I grew up playing SNES RPGs, so Sea of Stars was like reliving my childhood via playing 16-bit video games. The game’s dungeons include stunning pixel visuals, and I frequently found myself appreciating this throwback RPG. The tale takes some time to get rolling, but the superb soundtrack and fighting system more than compensate for the relatively basic narration.
