Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 series could launch as early as October

Samsung’s Galaxy Tab S series is widely regarded as the primary competitor to Apple’s popular iPad.

Although the Tab S10 series was not introduced alongside other devices during this July’s Galaxy Unpacked, Samsung’s forthcoming Android tablets are likely to be available soon.

Here’s everything we know so far about the Galaxy Tab S10, including its projected launch date and specifications.

When will the Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 be released?

Samsung unveiled numerous new items during the recent Galaxy Unpacked event, including the Galaxy Z Fold 6, Galaxy Z Flip 6, Galaxy Ring, Galaxy Watch 7, and Galaxy Watch Ultra. Unfortunately, the highly anticipated Galaxy Tab S10 series was not among them.

However, a Samsung South Africa spokesman confirmed to Android Authority that the Tab S10 series is in development and will be available before the end of the year, ahead of the planned Galaxy S25 series debut in January 2025.

According to leaker Ross Young on X (previously Twitter), production will begin in August, with an estimated launch in October:

Although we still do not know the exact release date, earlier models may give us an idea. Here’s when they first entered the world stage:

  • Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 – August 2023
  • Samsung Galaxy Tab S9+ – August 2023
  • Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra – August 2023
  • Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 – February 2022
  • Samsung Galaxy Tab S8+ – February 2022
  • Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra – February 2022
  • Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 – August 2020
  • Samsung Galaxy Tab S7+ – August 2020
  • Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 – August 2019

As you can see, the majority of the new tablets are set to arrive in August. The Tab S8 series strayed from this trend, although it appears that a return to the late summer schedule is in the works for 2024.

If you’re interested in the FE or Lite versions, they usually come out a little later than the major models. Here is how they recently lined up:

The range appears to be a little more random than the usual versions, with Samsung discontinuing the Tab S8 series and launching the Tab S7 FE a year after the Tab S7 appeared. We don’t know if a FE model will be released in 2024, but it doesn’t appear to be a plausible scenario.

How much will the Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 cost?

With the tablet market becoming increasingly competitive in recent years as a result of releases from companies such as Xiaomi and Huawei, Samsung would be well to keep costs low in order to compete. With that in mind, we believe you will see similar prices to those of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 series.

Here’s what you’ll most likely have to pay.

What features will the Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 have?

We don’t know what to expect from Samsung’s future tablets because the company has yet to confirm any details.

There have also been few rumors about the new devices, so they remain somewhat mysterious. We can, however, look back to prior models to predict what Samsung may have in store for its future generation of tablets.

No regular model

While there have been numerous rumors concerning the Galaxy Tab S10 series, one of the most recent is rather significant if confirmed.

According to a post on the Korean website Naver (via GSMArena), Samsung may forego the normal Galaxy Tab S10 and only release the Plus and Ultra variants. This transition is anticipated to occur as a result of the introduction of the cheaper Galaxy Tab S9 FE and decreased sales of the standard Galaxy Tab S9 last year.

In response to the production beginning in August, leaker Ross Young also hinted that there might not be a regular model:

Design & display

When it comes to design revisions for the S10 series, Samsung has limited options.

When it comes to this type of tablet, function appears to take precedence over form, and the firm has already included S-Pen charging anyplace on the back with the Tab S9 variants, as well as an IP68 waterproof classification across the range.

with our Galaxy Tab S9 article, we mentioned that the edges should be smoother for a more pleasant grip, which could be seen with the Tab S10. Otherwise, don’t anticipate too much from the visual department.

Recently, we took a closer look at how the Tab S10 Ultra would look, and it appears to validate what we mentioned above.

According to renders from Android Headlines, the Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra’s design and proportions are remarkably comparable to the Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra, measuring around 326.4 x 208.6 x 5.45mm.

The tablet’s ultra-thin profile, quad speakers, right-side power and volume controls, and back-mounted magnetic S-Pen charging may all remain. It is also possible that the 14.6-inch display, dual front and back cameras, and display notch will remain.

Furthermore, GSMArena adds that “the Galaxy Tab S10+ will have a 12.4-inch screen, while the Ultra will go even further with a 14.9-inch display.” The two will have extremely similar designs.”

Specs & performance

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset powers the current S9 Samsung tablets, as well as the Galaxy S23, S23 Plus, and S23 Ultra phones.

However, with the new Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+, and Galaxy S24 Ultra all upgrading to the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 platform (with the Ultra getting the overclocked ‘for Galaxy’ variation), it seems likely that the Tab S10 devices will also receive an upgrade.

However, according to the most recent Geekbench runs for the Tab S10+ (via GSMArena) and Tab S10 Ultra (via GSMArena), the entire Tab S10 series will include two variants powered by MediaTek’s Dimensity 9300+ chipset, a departure from the typical use of Snapdragon chips.

Galaxy Tab S10

The eight-core CPU is believed to have four Cortex-X4 cores (one at 3.4GHz and three at 2.85GHz) and four Cortex-A720 cores running at 2.0GHz. The GPU is an Immortalis-G720, however its performance has not been evaluated using Geekbench. The tablets will include Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, and optional 5G connection that supports both sub-6GHz and mmWave.

The base variants may include 12GB of RAM, similar to the Tab S9 series. There will most certainly be a 16GB RAM edition accessible in specific locations, possibly combined with 1TB of storage.

The Dimensity 9300+ is likely to surpass the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 in the Galaxy chip. Samsung’s decision to the Dimensity 9300+ could result in a performance improvement and cost savings over Qualcomm’s Snapdragon CPUs, potentially making the tablets more competitive in terms of performance and pricing.

Cameras

The Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra is expected to keep its top-tier camera capabilities, with a dual rear camera arrangement identical to the Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra, with a 13MP wide-angle and 8MP ultrawide lens. Dual 12MP front cameras could be an option.

The Galaxy Tab S10+ is also expected to inherit its predecessor’s camera setup, which includes dual 13Mp wide and 8Mp ultrawide rear cameras, as well as a single 12Mp front camera.

Given the prominence of AI in the Galaxy S24 cameras, it’s possible that Samsung will incorporate AI upgrades into the Galaxy Tab S10 lineup as well.

Battery & charging

If Samsung’s forthcoming tablets follow the design of the Galaxy Tab S9 series, we should expect similar batteries. With a more powerful CPU, the Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra and S10+ should have longer battery life.

Charging will most certainly remain at 45W, but we hope Samsung releases even quicker charging with the Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra.

Software

The Galaxy Tab S10 series is expected to launch with One UI 6, which is based on Android 14. Galaxy AI is also extremely likely.

We will update this post with fresh information when it becomes available. So check back from time to time to see what we can uncover.
