Xiaomi is finally introducing Android 15 to its users via a fresh update. However, not everyone will be able to enjoy the latest HyperOS capabilities, at least for the time being.
The rollout, which is already available globally for the Xiaomi 14 series, includes an earlier software version, HyperOS 1.1, rather than the much-anticipated HyperOS 2.0, which remains limited to the Chinese market.
This means that non-Chinese users will have to wait for the whole package.
STechGuide reports that Xiaomi 14 users outside of China are now receiving the stable Android 15 update.
It offers a number of updates and enhancements, including improved layout handling on the Home screen, a smoother Recents menu, and changes to the Lock screen’s Always-on Display.
However, these improvements are primarily small, as the upgrade is based on HyperOS 1.1 rather than HyperOS 2.0, which is still in development for Chinese consumers on the Xiaomi 14, 14 Pro, and 14 Ultra.
While this Android 15 upgrade provides some welcome enhancements for Xiaomi 14 customers, it falls short of the more comprehensive experience promised by HyperOS 2.0, which is still in development.
For the time being, international users will have to wait and see when, if at all, this more advanced version will be available outside of China.
