The foldable industry is expanding rapidly, with several fantastic alternatives available for anyone willing to pay a premium for this new class of smartphone. Xiaomi is reported to be working on a new version of its foldable phone, with rumors swirling about what the revised device would include. Here’s all we know about the Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 so far.
When will the Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 be released?
The Mix Fold 3 is officially on its way, with Xiaomi president Lu Weibing going to Weibo to announce that it will be available in August.
The bad news is that, according to leaker Ice Universe, the phone is unlikely to be released globally, implying that the foldable will only be available in China.
That is precisely what happened when the prior two versions were launched in China:

- Xiaomi Mix Fold – April 2021
How much will the Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 cost?
There’s no news on pricing yet, but the previous generation can serve as a reference. When the Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 was released in China, it was priced as follows:
- 256GB: ¥8,999 (around $1,335/£1,090/€1,290)
- 512GB: ¥9,999 (around $1,485/£1,215/€1,435)
- 1TB: ¥11,999 (around $1,780/£1,455/€1,720)
We’d anticipate similar values for the newer model, with potentially a tiny decrease as the technology becomes more easily produced.
What features will we see in the Xiaomi Mix Fold 3?
With the Mix Fold 3 still some time away from release, rumors about its probable tech specs are few. That hasn’t prevented tech leakers from hard at work, mining some gems for us all.
Processor
The Mix Fold 3 is expected to ship with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 CPU, according to Digital Chat Station.
Displays
As a foldable phone, the Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 will obviously have many panels. According to Gizchina, the main 8.01in OLED foldable display will be 1860 x 2480 with a 20:9 aspect ratio and Gorilla Glass 5. This differs somewhat from the Mix Fold 2, which used an 8.02in LTPO2 OLED folding display with a resolution of 1914 x 2160 at 120Hz with Schott UT glass.
The 6.56in AMOLED, 120Hz, 1080 x 2520 resolution panel seen on the Mix Fold 2 will be replaced with a 6.5in OLED FHD+ 120Hz panel, so there won’t be much of a difference there.
Cameras
Xiaomi appears to be paying attention to the cameras on the Mix Fold 3, as rumours indicate that the new phone will include an under display camera for the primary foldout panel. This should provide an unbroken display while also allowing you to capture selfies when the phone is in tablet mode.
Several additional reports indicate that a periscope lens will be added to the primary camera array, providing a 5x optical zoom and putting it on par with devices like the Samsung S23 Ultra, Google Pixel 7 Pro, and Honor Magic 5 Pro.
Battery and waterproofing
We’ve also heard that Xiaomi will keep the 67W charging speeds used on the Mix Fold 2, with Gizchina claiming that the battery will be increased from 4500mAh to 5020mAh in the Mix Fold 3, though Kartikey Singh predicts a more modest increase to 4800mAh, as well as the addition of wireless charging.
The new model is also rumored to be waterproof, however we have yet to know whatever IP classification it will obtain.
