Samsung has already launched its full 2026 foldable lineup, including the Galaxy Z Fold 8, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, and the Galaxy Z Flip 8. But the company isn’t done yet. Samsung is set to launch one more foldable phone this year, and it arrives next week.
Samsung’s New Foldable Launches Next Week: What to Expect
Samsung announced the launch in a post on Weibo, confirming that its new foldable phone will debut in China on October 29 at 4:00 p.m. local time. The teaser image shows a foldable device with a bright gold frame.

Shortly after Samsung’s Weibo post, well-known tipster Ice Universe identified the teased device as the Samsung W27, a China-exclusive variant of the recently launched Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra. The tipster also shared an image of the phone, and its camera module design and form factor closely match the Z Fold 8 Ultra.

There are a few details that set this device apart visually. First, the image shows the phone in a new blue color. By comparison, the globally available Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra comes in three color options, and none of them is blue.
Another difference in the shared image is the golden camera island and a completely different logo on the back.
What features to expect in the Samsung W27?
Along with the image, tipster Ice Universe said the upcoming Samsung foldable will carry the same specifications as the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra. That means an 8-inch foldable display and a 6.5-inch cover screen with a 120 Hz refresh rate. The phone will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset and will likely offer up to 16 GB of RAM and up to 1 TB of storage.
On the camera front, expect a triple-camera setup on the back, led by a 200 MP main sensor, a 50 MP ultra-wide lens, and a 10 MP telephoto lens. The foldable is also likely to pack a 5,000 mAh battery with 45 W wired and 20 W wireless charging.
Samsung and its history with W line devices
The Samsung W27 won’t be the first W series phone. Every year, Samsung releases a more premium version of its top foldable exclusively in China, and the device is also sold through China Telecom.
The company has kept this tradition going for years. The W22, for example, was a special version of the Galaxy Z Fold 3 that was available only in the Chinese market. Samsung broke the pattern only in 2024, when the Galaxy Z Fold 6 special edition got a wider release.
These special editions also bring more than a fancier design. They typically come with extras like more RAM and bigger retail packages. Last year’s W26, which was based on the Galaxy Z Fold 7, added satellite calling and messaging, which the original phone doesn’t have. It will be interesting to see what new features the W27 offers over the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra.
That said, the W27 is China-exclusive, so you’ll need to import it if you want to try it.
