Just as the rumored redesign of the Galaxy S27 Ultra seemed like the biggest headline this year, another surprise has emerged. Following the strong demand seen with previous Ultra models—especially the Galaxy S26 Ultra, which continues to enjoy robust sales—Samsung appears to be doubling down on its winning formula with some new twists.
Another Ultra model

Yesterday, leaker Ice Universe unveiled the S27 Ultra’s new design, which ditches the signature vertical camera array in favor of a horizontal bar. That claim has now been corroborated by tipster Sonny Dickson.
Dickson shared fresh images of the revamped design—and dropped an even bigger reveal.
According to him, the S27 Ultra will launch in two different sizes, marking the first time the Ultra lineup will offer multiple size options.
The finer details

Ice later expanded on his initial sketch with fresh renders. In the new layout, the main and wide-angle sensors are stacked vertically, while a 5x telephoto lens sits inside a pill-shaped island next to the flash. The 3x telephoto unit, which previously occupied the bottom of the second camera row, has been removed.
Has Samsung thought this through?
Early reactions to the new design have been largely negative, with many critics calling it visually unappealing. Some worry that Samsung is losing its distinctive identity and merely echoing Apple’s design language from last year.
That said, it’s possible the renders don’t fully capture Samsung’s vision—and the final production hardware could look much better in person.
The design downfall of Samsung is a fascinating case study.
An Ultra for everyone
The more intriguing detail is that the Ultra will reportedly be available in two sizes. Dickson could simply be referring to the rumored Pro model as a size variant within the Ultra lineup—or this might be how Samsung chooses to position the new model altogether.
Either way, it means customers will have a new option for a fully specced-out Galaxy S27 model in a different size. The Ultra name carries significant prestige, and adding another model could be the missing piece to push sales to new heights.
YOU SAID TWO DIFFERENT SIZES?? MY DREAM IS GOING TO BE TRUE PLEASE SAMSUNG
Lastly, Ice has also indicated that the Galaxy S27 and S27+ will retain the current vertical camera layout, confirming suspicions that the redesigned look is exclusive to the high-end Ultra model.
