I tested Apple Vision Pro for a month, this is the most underrated feature

Watching movies for me is much better than going to the theater.

I’m sitting on my sofa, watching the first 15 minutes of Oppenheimer on my Apple Vision Pro, when it hits me. Actually, my son’s arm hits me. He wanted to view the movie I was secretly streaming on the equivalent of a 100-foot screen.

I was mesmerized by the clashing particles swirling around in Oppenheimer’s electrifying visions, as well as the specific sparks coming through the Vision Pro’s audio pods in surround-sound like Spatial Audio, and I wondered whether I’d ever go to the movies again. Then I let my 16-year-old son use the Vision Pro, and he became lost in the film as well. We eventually agreed to watch it together on a standard 65-inch Samsung QLED TV. not in the movie but the presentation.

The Apple Vision Pro is exorbitantly costly, but if you have the spare means to spend on it, one of the main selling features is undoubtedly entertainment. You may relax and watch a movie with remarkable detail projected into your eyes, replete with a movie-theater-like setting to build the mood. It’s like being at the movies, sans the sticky flooring.

When I had more time to myself, I tried the Vision Pro again, this time watching a 3D movie. This is not the cumbersome and chintzy 3D glasses experience you’d expect at the local theater. Remember that the Vision Pro headset is designed to fit the form of your face (thanks to the Light Seal) and eyes (in my case, reading inserts).

Using the Disney+ app, I launched one of my all-time favorite movies, ‘Avengers Infinity War.’ I fast-forwarded to my favorite scenes to see how they looked in 3D, and I was blown away when I watched Captain America reconcile with Bucky in Wakanda before the massive invasion. As they hugged, I discovered a depth in the personalities that I hadn’t observed before. When the Black Panther shouted “Yibambe!” I could see sweat droplets on the side of his head.

I was also floored when I saw a bunch of heroes try to take down Thanos on Titan. As Thanos’ eyes glazed over under Mantis’ spell, I got so drawn into the swirling animations and his pain-filled yell that I forgot where I was.

In other words, you’ll be immersed in movies like never before, short of bringing an IMAX into your living room. Furthermore, you may use specific environments as the backdrop for your own huge screen, such as The Avengers Tower. And as you begin watching the movie, the day will fade into night, establishing the mood. To pay for the Vision Pro, 160 IMAX tickets cost $21.85 each.

At last count, nearly 40 3D movies were accessible through the Disney+ Vision Pro app, ranging from the Star Wars trilogy and ‘Avatar’ to ‘The Little Mermaid.’ There are hundreds of additional 3D movies accessible through the Apple TV+ app on Vision Pro. These include ‘Mission Impossible — Fallout,’ ‘Jurassic World Dominion,’ ‘Dune,’ and others.

Do I think the movie experience on the Vision Pro is worth $3,500? Definitely not by itself. But I promise you that if you give this headset a shot and see just a few minutes of a 3D movie through it, you’ll wish you had one.
