An FCC filing for a new wireless device lines up perfectly with what you’d expect from an unreleased Fitbit tracker — especially one with a display on board.
Not long after last month’s Made by Google event introduced the Pixel 11 lineup, a mysterious device started popping up in Australian ads — something that looked like a cross between a Pixel and a Fitbit. Since it wasn’t an officially announced product, it sparked plenty of confusion and guesswork.
Ruling out the possibility of an AI-generated glitch (though that theory hasn’t fully disappeared), most observers landed on the same conclusion: this was very likely the Fitbit Charge 7.
That theory checks out, too. Google’s existing Fitbit trackers are still for sale but are well past due for an upgrade, and the brand has already made its 2026 comeback with the Fitbit Air.
The rumored Charge 7 just gained more credibility, though, after 9to5Google spotted a related FCC (Federal Communications Commission) filing.
It’s listed under “Wireless Device” from a company called Weifang Goertek Electronics Co. — but don’t click away just yet. That’s the same manufacturer behind the Fitbit Air for Google, and the model number, ending in “G8BL6,” closely resembles the Air’s own designation, “GW9C8.”
Battery life is a big part of why Fitbit’s custom OS makes sense to keep around, so Google may well stick with it here — just with a visual refresh to bring it in line with the rest of the lineup.
If this is indeed the Fitbit Charge 7 — and that’s where I’d put my money right now — the FCC listing suggests a launch could be on the horizon. That said, nothing’s confirmed yet.
I’ll be keeping an eye out for developments in this story, while also keeping my fingers crossed for that Fitbit smart ring.
