I tried to use Apple Vision Pro to watch the Super Bowl but stopped — here’s why

The NFL does not yet have a dedicated Apple Vision Pro app, but that did not prevent me from trying to view sections of Super Bowl 2024 using Apple’s spatial computer. And I have to tell you, it looked amazing.

Unfortunately, I couldn’t force myself to watch the Big Game for very long. And it has nothing to do with the headset’s powers.

I gave the Apple Vision Pro my first try during the Super Bowl pregame show, launching the Paramount Plus app on the gadget. It should be noted that this is a “Compatible App,” which indicates that Paramount Plus has yet to produce a native Vision Pro software. But the supersized iPad app within the headgear was still remarkable.

When I switched to full-screen mode, I made the movie window roughly the size of my living room wall, dwarfing my 65-inch Samsung QLED TV. Even at this big scale, the image was clear and sharp. I felt like I was on stage when Mr. Irrelevant Brock Purdy was selected last.

I felt like an anti-social Vision Hole. It’s one thing if you’re going to watch sports by yourself. But putting on the Vision Pro during the biggest game of the year around family and friends just felt rude and wrong.
