The iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max launched in the shadow of the iPhone Duo, which clearly grabbed most of the spotlight. That sparked worrying reports about weak demand for the two Pro models, but a new survey suggests those concerns were premature and overblown.
iPhone 18 Pro is still quite popular
Early estimates suggested demand for the iPhone 18 Pro models was lower than it was for last year’s iPhone 17 Pro, but Apple may still be selling plenty of devices. When we reported those estimates, we asked you whether you had pre-ordered a new top-tier iPhone, and the results turned out to be quite encouraging for Apple.
That may seem odd, since the most popular answer was a negative one. A little over 38% of you said you’re skipping an upgrade this year, which might sound alarming, but it’s completely normal. Hardly anyone upgrades their phone every year, and many people keep the same device for three years or even longer.
On the flip side, that means roughly 62% of you plan to upgrade this time around, which is great news for Apple. About a third of you said you’re going for an iPhone 18 Pro, with 29% having already pre-ordered it and another 14% planning to buy it later.

No reason to fail
The iPhone Duo may be the shiny new model, but I see no reason why the iPhone 18 Pro shouldn’t enjoy the same popularity as its predecessor. It brings performance upgrades, camera improvements, and a fancy new color that fans love, and it’s simply a solid phone overall.
