Not only will the Xiaomi 18 Pro series be available internationally, but it’s going to happen this year. Xiaomi has confirmed that its new flagship 18 Pro phones will launch globally, arriving hot on the heels of their Chinese debut.
Last year, UK buyers got only the Xiaomi 17. The more intriguing Xiaomi 17 Pro never made it here, though the Xiaomi 17 Ultra softened the blow. Even then, the phone didn’t arrive until late February, a full five months after it first appeared in China.
This time, Xiaomi seems to have its international rollout in better order. Just after unveiling the Xiaomi 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max, founder and CEO Lei Jun took to X to share an update on the company’s global plans.

According to the boss, the Xiaomi 18 Pro Series will go global “this year.” Technically, that could mean a launch after Christmas, roughly three months away. We think that’s unlikely, though, for obvious commercial reasons.
Even if it did happen, it would still be a big step up from how Xiaomi handled its previous launches.
Note that “the other side of Christmas” could also be read as late December, so I’ve kept the meaning vague in line with the original. If you’d prefer it to say explicitly that it might slip into next year, I can adjust that.
Xiaomi appears to be streamlining and optimising its smartphone launch schedule, with widespread reports that it has ditched the prospect of a Xiaomi 18 Ultra flagship and is going all in on the Pro.
That’s fair enough, given the specs involved.
