Samsung has played an inestimable role in designing Android flagship devices for more than ten years. Samsung’s flagship Galaxy S smartphone series is introduced each year in Q1 at the Galaxy Unpacked event. The next Unpacked event is quickly approaching, and the firm is likely to announce the Galaxy S25 series, including the flagship Galaxy S25 Ultra.
The Samsung Galaxy Unpacked 2025 event will take place on January 22 in San Jose, California, USA. It is expected to be special because the company may finally unveil its much-anticipated virtual reality headset, which was teased alongside the recent announcement of Google’s Android XR platform.
Here is everything we expect to see at Samsung’s first Galaxy Unpacked event of 2025:
Galaxy S25 series
The Galaxy S25 series will be the main highlight of Galaxy Unpacked 2025, representing the next batch of flagship Android smartphones with top-of-the-line hardware and the most recent software. According to leaks, unlike last year, when the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24 Plus were powered by the Exynos 2400 in some regions, the entire Galaxy S25 series will feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy, a speed-binned flagship chip from Qualcomm.
The primary distinction between the Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S25 Plus, as with their predecessors, will be size. The Galaxy S25 is expected to have a compact 6.2-inch FHD+ 120Hz display, while the Galaxy S25 Plus may have a larger 6.7-inch screen with a 2K resolution. Meanwhile, the Galaxy S25 Ultra will remain the largest device in the lineup, with a 6.8-inch display.
In terms of RAM and storage, all three models are expected to offer at least 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal storage. While the Galaxy S25 and S25 Plus will also have 512 GB variants, the Galaxy S25 Ultra may come in both 512 GB and 1 TB configurations. According to an X user, the Galaxy S25 Ultra might also feature a 16 GB RAM variant, but it could be limited to Asian markets, including India.
The Galaxy S25 and S25 Plus’ camera specifications are believed to be comparable to their predecessors, with a 50 MP main shooter, a 10 MP telephoto lens, and a 12 MP ultra-wide-angle lens. However, the Galaxy S25 Ultra is said to feature a 200 MP main camera, a 50 MP 6x telephoto lens, a 50 MP ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 10 MP 3x telephoto lens, as well as compatibility for up to 8K video recording.
According to leaked information, battery capacity and charging speed will not rise throughout the lineup. The Galaxy S25 Ultra is said to have a 5,000 mAh battery and 45W rapid charging capability.
All three devices will be running OneUI 7, which is based on Android 15. Among the three, the Galaxy S25 Ultra is rumored to include exclusive features for the S-Pen, such as a multimodal picture production capability that Samsung recently teased.
One more thing
Samsung may surprise us with an XR headset powered by Android XR at its Unpacked event. While it may not be officially introduced, the business is expected to demonstrate some of its features and capabilities, possibly drawing parallels to the Apple Vision Pro.
We don’t expect any new smartwatches, smart rings, or earbuds at this event, considering they were announced only a few months ago at the previous Galaxy Unpacked.
