What goes through Elon Musk’s mind? The billionaire panics and sets a new regulation that forbids Twitter users from endorsing Mastodon, Instagram or even Facebook.
Update December 19: Faced with the ridiculousness of his choice, Elon Musk believes it is appropriate to prohibit only accounts whose main aim is to promote a rival platform and to allow users to share their works published on other platforms, such as an Instagram link or Linktree.
Hey @elonmusk. I get accounts whose SOLE purpose to promote other accounts being forbidden but telling people they can't link out to their instagram is way too far.
The same goes for linktree. I use mine to link to my website, my coffee biz etc. Not to compete with twitter.

Thus, Twitter erased its message as well as the page describing these new content standards on the network. In terms of paid certification, it is predicted that this new reform would return in a new shape within a few weeks, if not a few days.
December 18 article:
Despite several departures and dismissals, as well as the loss of major advertisers, the billionaire maintains his flexible geometry vision of freedom of speech. After removing the accounts of countless journalists and then restoring them, Twitter is forbidding the promotion of its competitors.

Twitter Hardens The Tone :
Twitter’s moderation policy has been tightened. Is Elon Musk scared of Mastodon? Twitter is ratcheting up the pressure after restricting outbound links to specific Mastodon instances. Twitter users are no longer permitted to direct their followers to Mastodon, for example. This rule is punishable by removing tweets and perhaps suspending accounts.
The new restriction affects more than just Mastodon; it also affects Meta (Facebook and Instagram), Thurth Social, Tribel, Nostr, and Post. In addition to promotional tweets, you are also no longer permitted to mention Mastodon accounts or links in Twitter biographies. It is worth noting that neither LinkedIn nor YouTube are mentioned.
Specifically, we will remove accounts created solely for the purpose of promoting other social platforms and content containing links or usernames for the following platforms: Facebook, Instagram, Mastodon, Truth Social, Tribel, Nostr and Post .
This new rule is an excellent example of Elon Musk’s changing geometry approach to moderating. It also demonstrates Elon Musk’s last significant deviation.
