Roblox will be available on Meta’s Quest VR headsets starting with an open beta in the “coming weeks,” according to a blog post from Meta. You can test out this Quest version of Roblox on the Quest 2 and Quest Pro, and Meta claims it will also function on the upcoming Quest 3.
“Is automatically publishing some experiences that use default player scripts to support VR devices,” explains Meta. “They’ve discovered that those experiences typically run well in VR without modification, so they’re seeding the Rob VR library with fantastic content from the start.” Roblox claims that the site currently has over 15 million “active experiences” to pick from. This Quest version of Roblo will also feature cross-platform gaming, allowing you to interact with users on Xbox, mobile, and PC.
Roblox has long supported VR via PC-based headsets, allowing you to play on devices like as the Oculus Rift, HTC Vive, and Valve Index. You can even play Roblox right now on the Quest 2 by connecting the headset to your PC. However, this new Quest-optimized version should be easier to get up and running — eventually, it will just be an app you can download from the Meta Quest Store — which might mean that a lot more people will leap into Roblox in virtual reality.
